trip pictures

before i start i just want to say that i started to think about editing pictures...and well, it's just overrated...so most of the pics i am using i've only resized for the most part...

okay now that we got that out of the way...just in case you didn't know we took a trip to cozumel last week (i didn't want to broadcast it on my blog for safety reasons...i needed my laptop to actually be here when i got back)...we took a relaxing flight out on monday and we were supposed to be coming in early afternoon on friday...(more on that later)...anyhow...we geared up for our flight...everyone of course had their choice of portable electronic device...i, of course, chose my new baby (yeah i know...i just got a new baby...but i needed another...) my itouch...which, by the way, i'm totally in love with...(yes yes i know it's only 8 gig...i don't care...i honestly didn't buy it for it's storage capabilities...more for its wifi....i can get along with a hundred or so songs and a few tv shows and movies and be just fine...but i digress)..i watch a movie, ashlyn watches "woody" and dad...well dad has to game so i let him borrow my ds...we arrive in cozumel about 2 hours later...ashlyn did awesome...not a peep out of her the entire time...we jump in the funjet van and head to our destination...the iberostar...we get there...check in...head to our room...and realize...it's right by the pool...which would be okay except for the fact i don't want to listen to all of the partiers all night (little did we know everyone was out of the pool by 7 and you pretty much couldn't hear a pin drop throughout the whole place)...so we switched rooms and actually got an awesome location between the pool and the lobby/buffet...once we got settled we headed to the pool...which is pretty much where we spent most of our vacation...the weather was awesome (though quite a few of the people we met from up north were talking about how hot it was...80 degrees with a breeze...eh) while we were there we had a blast...we met lots of people...tons from canada eh....and even fellow neighbors from allen...we made a few trips out to the beach but with it being so breezy the water was pretty rough and the seaweed and junk was washing up on the shore...ryan and ashlyn still got out there and made a sandcastle together...and we searched for seashells...on day number 3 we decided to rent a car (i was bummed we couldn't rent a jeep or a bug...we ended up with a mazda...shush it camacho...stop laughing) and we went around the island stopping at the ruins and somehow ending up on a truck that took us to a new beach...the east side of the island was absolutely gorgeous..not that the rest of it wasn't...it was just less populated...and you know, i have to say cozumel is one of the cleanest places i've ever been to...now safetly...well that's a whole nother thing...we saw families riding on scooters...and i'm not talking about a mom and dad on one and their teenage kid on another...i'm talking about a regular scooter...with a child of 5 standing on the foot rest...the dad driving...the mom hanging on the back...and the baby hanging off of the mom's side, suspended over the ground...of course, i don't have room to say too much and we'll just leave it at that...anyway, our day was great...we explored for a bit then went back to the hotel and back to the pool...(oh and somebody remind me the next time i go on an all inclusive that the lobby bar always has the best liquor)...after our wonderful stay we checked out and waited around for our van (which doesn't ever come, by the way)...after sitting around for awhile we figured out we needed to actually call for a taxi...so we hopped in and headed for the airport...when we got to the airport they told us our airplane was running a tad bit late...okay..no problem...we check our bags...grab some chips and wait...and wait...and wait...they come on over the intercom...flight blah blah blah (that's us) you're flight has been delayed until 3 pm....NICE....oh no wait...flight blah blah blah...you're flight has been delayed until 5pm....GREAT...we will be giving out meal vouchers at 1pm (at this point it's like 10am)...so we hang out for a bit...we decide we're going into town with the couple from allen so we can kill some time instead of just sitting around the airport for hours....an announcement comes...you're flight has been delayed until 8pm....fing nice...a delay that long with a almost 4 year old is NOT fun...though i have to say ashlyn was actually a trooper and honestly didn't give us any problems whatsoever through the whole experience...the couple from allen kept tabs on the funjet people and on our way out to grab a taxi they talked to one of the funjet guys who said we could probably go back to our hotel (since we were all smart and kept our wristbands on)...he called ahead and okayed it and we headed back to our little slice of heaven...we ate...we drank...and we just hung out...ryan got to talk games (omg...so much nerd talk) and i just got to talk...which is always a bonus for me...finally we headed back to the airport...and left cozumel around 9pm....

so here's the first day we got to our hotel...on our way to go eat...
there were all kinds of animals running around..flamingos, lizards, iguanas, snakes, hummingbirds, a parrot and all of these wonderful peacocks...this one was the funniest...everytime a female would walk by him he would flare up his tail and start strutting around...you just had to be there...i would laugh everytime...the girl sure didn't seem impressed but he kept showing out...

time for the beach...yay for sandcastles...

trying to get some water for her castle...

dad working hard on his tower...or volcano....

surfs up...she kept asking if she could go ride the waves..we kept telling her the only thing she'd be riding is the pool...

a girl's favorite thing...shopping...well, at least my girl's favorite thing..

a beach on the other side of the island...

checking out the waves...

the sign says "topless ........ only" ....i have no clue what the middle word was

this was at the reggae bar (the one with no electricity)....love the quote...

this was at the bar we stopped at on our way back into town...

nevermind my lobster tan...aren't we the cutest???

isn't he handsome???..!!!

ahhhh...my love...at least in mexico it is...oh and the coco locos...mmmm good times...

while we were in town ashlyn got her hair "did"....

check out my strand mom....

chillin on the hammock...

this was the flamingo pond...up above to my left there was a parrot hanging out in the tree...on the middle right you can see one of the big iguanas on the base of the tree...(but only if you squint real hard)

our bungalow...

one last time out to the pool...let's get the sunscreen on...

ho daddy!!!

gotta get on the swim gear...we learned a valuable lesson the last time we went on vacation...make sure you have something your kid can use as a float so you don't have to carry them around the pool for hours on end...

working hard to get that swimming down so mama...i mean, WE can get a pool...

that's pretty much it...i didn't take as many pics as i normally would have...but since i lost my pands and i hate taking my big camera everywhere i just didn't get the opportunity...though i have to say it's nice to live in the moment...instead of behind the lens all of the time..i did get a few pics that i haven't posted just because they're more landscape type shots...and i took a couple of videos of ashlyn in the ocean...

Looks like a blast! I'm totally jealous, of course! I want a Dos Equis! Oh, and I'm cracking up at the Mazda...
