first soccer game...

soccer season is officially underway...we had our first game this past saturday...in the rain...what a way to welcome in the soccer season...i have to admit i'm glad we ended up playing despite the rain...i think i was more excited about it that ashlyn (though she was pretty stoked)...

the game went well...i totally see why they call it bunch ball...it was so cute to see them running around in their little uniforms and scoring goals...both teams did really great!!! i took some pictures while i was out there but i've already told myself i'm either buying or renting a longer lens for the next game...i just couldn't get in tight enough with what i have...ugh...

most of my pictures of ashlyn are from the first 5 minutes..you know...before the game actually started...lol...while ashlyn loves soccer and has a real knack for keeping the ball away from the kids when playing sharks and minnows...she hasn't quite figured out that it's okay to take the ball away from the other girls...this being an essential part of soccer (especially in 4 year old soccer) ashlyn didn't get to touch the ball much...darn me for telling her it wasn't okay to be aggressive when she was tackling kids to the floor...oh well, we'll totally work on that...but for most of the game she just ran around BESIDE all of the girls and told them to kick it and which way to go...

and this is pretty much as close as she got to the ball the whole time...well, okay there were a few times she actually got to kick it...when it rolled to her feet...how do you tell your kid that NOW it's okay to go and take the ball away from some other kid after telling her for over 2 years that it's not?? i knew that darn sharing thing was overrated...
