bad mom...

last night we were watching american idol together...and ashlyn brought out her guitar so she could play us songs during the commercials (yeah, we watched it in real time...can you imagine??? insanity i tell ya)...well, i decided to "tune" it for her...and in doing so popped a string...now mind you she's been playing that guitar for 2 days straight and it hadn't left her side at all...she bawled...and bawled and bawled...i felt so bad...i apologized for breaking her guitar and when she finally calmed down she looked at me and said "i don't think i want anyone else playing with it anymore...just me"...and then she grabbed it, held it and leaned her little head against it in a little depressed funk...talk about feeling 2 inches tall...luckily the thing came with one extra string...i fixed it this morning and she was pretty happy about it...though i'm thinking that's the only time i'll be allowed to put my hands on it again...
