so i've been wanting to attempt a recon shirt for awhile now...ever since the lovely jackie started the trend...(well at least started it as far as i'm concerned)...so when ashlyn got a note saying she had to wear green to school on thursday i figured it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try...i went to my favorite store, target and picked up a cute st patricks day shirt from the adult section...(i would have picked a shirt out of my own closet but for some strange reason i only have like one green shirt) anyway..i thought a pair of cute matching socks would make some awesome sleeves..so i picked up a pair of those too...and a pair of knee highs to complete the ensemble...today i busted out the trusty sewing machine and went to work...now mind you i'm horrible at following directions no matter how you spell it out to me...i'm more of a trial by fire kinda girl...so i made a few mistakes (which you'll be able to see) but at least i'll know for the next time...i think it turned out pretty cute...especially for my first attempt...and can i just say i LOVE using the socks as sleeves..i took a few quick pictures just now...hopefully i'll get some better ones when she puts it on tomorrow for school...i'm still debating making it into just a shirt and pairing it with a skirt...but ashlyn is bound and determined she wants to keep it a dress...so we'll see...
