ever since i was a kid i can remember driving through fort worth and seeing this tree on the side of the road...now mind you, there are hundreds of tree scattered throughout fort worth...thousands maybe...but this one tree in particular really stands out...first of all, it's up on a hill on the side of 30 just sitting there all by its lonesome...it's not very big...and if you weren't looking for it...and it wasn't decorated...you'd probably never notice...what's really cool about the tree is that every year it's decorated...decorated for holidays mostly...but occasionally it has been decorated for certain events...like our troops going off to war...elections..etc..i have no clue who decorates it...or what made them start...but every holiday...there it is...on the side of the highway...looking out onto the fort worth skyline...i've told myself a million times to stop and take a picture before it's gone...so yesterday we were on our way home...we drove by the tree...and even though i only had my point and shoot i just kept thinking in my head...you need to stop...stop and take a picture...you're going to keep waiting and something is going to happen to it...so i made ryan turn around and we parked on the side of the highway and proceeded to climb up the hill to the tree...a few years ago, a bench was put up by the tree...and this year, for easter, someone put a cross up beside the two...we walked up and looked...remnants from years gone by...old snowflakes, christmas balls, streamers...plus new decorations added to the pile...by the bench we found a note...an artist left it saying that he wanted to construct a metal sculpture in tribute of the tree and would like to place it up on the hill when the tree is no longer viable and that he is also documenting the tree and its story through photographs...i snapped a few pictures of it...looked at it for a little while longer...and then headed home...a little bit of fort worth nostalgia tucked away in my little point and shoot....
